DETAINED by D. Esperanza and Gerardo Iván Morales is a powerful immigration story. D. Esperanza was a teen held at the infamous Tornillo, Texas, Immigration Detention camp, just outside of El Paso, during the first Trump administration. He snuck in a journal to archive his story. He is all grown up now, and that notebook has become this book.
